Brace yourselves, folks - I have a lot to say about the three hundred and sixty-five days that we have just left behind. (Also, happy new year!)(Is it still acceptable to say happy new year on the 20th? Asking for a friend)
The day after Don Broco destroyed Brixton Academy, it was Lower Than Atlantis' turn to play their biggest ever headline show, in the gorgeous Roundhouse, in the heart of Camden. They were to be accompanied by Black Foxxes, As It Is, and Moose Blood.
You know what? I could get used to weeks like these.
2015 has been the year of
British bands exploding and playing their biggest ever shows.
While
Architects,Mallory Knox and Lower Than Atlantis all tore the Roundhouse apart, another band has decided to
step it up a notch and sell out nothing else than the mighty Brixton
Academy.
That band is Don Broco.
I was there and, spoiler
alert, it was all kinds of mental.
On the 19th of
November, American metalcore band The Ghost Inside was involved
in a very serious bus accident that killed their bus driver as well as the driver of the truck that hit them, and left
several members of the band seriously injured. The alternative scene
immediately united to raise money for the medical bills and, last
week, a charity gig was announced to support them.It was to feature
Deaf Havana, Your Demise and You Me At Six at the Underworld in
London. Tickets sold out in forty five seconds and I was one of the
lucky few who snatched one of them. (thanks to my friend Nathalie)
